What is unique about the holistic way of living is that you observe and react to everything as a whole.


Going through several ups and downs throughout the years, I’ve discovered that when the physical, the emotional, the mental, and the spiritual are in harmony, we are more resilient and more able to handle life's stress.


I would like to share with you my top favourite holistic lifestyle practices.


Mindfulness


This was the very first lesson I've encountered when embarking in a holistic lifestyle. Living in the moment is the most important and hardest lesson I have learnt.


Mindfulness is something we all naturally possess, it’s more readily available to us when we practice it on a daily basis. Try to be fully present, aware of where you are and what you’re doing. Instead of being overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around you. You will see a big change in your day to day thoughts and behaviour in the long run.

Meditation


Meditation allows us to venture into the workings of our minds: our sensations, our emotions and thoughts.


Our bodies benefit greatly of meditation. Cardiologist Herbert Benson, MD, stated "The relaxation response [from meditation] helps decrease metabolism, lowers blood pressure, and improves heart rate, breathing, and brain waves," Take your time with meditation, start with just 5 minutes daily and grow from there.


Nutrition


Our overall health is directly affected by our gut health. I Try to take a natural approach to Nutrition, eat organic, wholesome foods instead of fast food. Eating clean and healthy helps keep your body strong and without issues.


I also highly recommend scheduling a consultation with a Holistic Nutritionist, he/she will help asses any symptoms you may be having, break down your daily eating habits, and suggest what is best for you nutrition wise.

Skin care


As a Holistic Esthetician, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to write about skin care. I love how technology offers new and effective solutions in medicine, health, or cosmetics. But I also think a holistic approach to skin care is essential. I do believe that working with the skin vs against it, is most effective. I do this by choosing to use Organic skin care lines that suits my skins needs.


However, putting on an expensive moisturizer on your face won't perform any miracles. It’s not enough to treat it from the outside only, we have to nurture it from the inside as well. For this, I recommend non-invasive (holistic) facials. As well as following the steps I have listed above. The skin is the largest organ on our body, if anything in the inside is out of balance, we will see it in our skin.

The choices that we make in our lives, help us achieve the highest potential of well-being for our bodies, Souls and minds! So do what feels good to you. You are the master of your own life after all!
