Meditating with Crystals


When practiced regularly, Meditation has many spiritual and physical benefits (see blog post 5 reasons why you should meditate). While a classic meditation requires no tools, it can be beneficial to incorporate Crystals to your meditations.


Why include Crystals in your meditation?


Trouble concentrating, do you find yourself making to-do lists in your head instead of noticing your breath while you Meditate? Using a crystal and having something tangible in your hands while meditating can help bring back the awareness to your meditation and/or intention.


Which brings me to my next reason, setting an intention. Choosing a proper Crystal can help you set your intention before going into your meditation. All Crystals vibrate at different frequencies, giving them many mental, physical and spiritual benefits. Choose a Crystal that aligns with your intention and incorporate it into your meditation.


Fidgeting, if you fidget just as much as I do, you might have trouble sitting still during a meditation. Personally, I have found that fidgeting with a stone instead of chewing my nails, taping my foot etc... has helped me maintain a zen mindset during my meditations . This is especially helpful if you attend group meditations, keeping your fidgeting to a minimum so you don't distract your peers.

Choosing a Crystal


When meditating with crystals you are allowing a powerful stone to influence your state of mind. You can let the stone choose you, or you can research different Crystals and their benefits, then choosing one based on your desired outcome for this meditation.


Here are a few of my favourite Crystals and why I chose to meditate with them;


Hematite: If you're drawn to the Hematite crystal, it could be a sign that you're in need of grounding and balancing in your life. As soon as the Hematite crystal stone touches the skin, you'll feel more centered and calm with its intense but subtle vibrations.


Crystal Quartz: Quartz can help open up the mind and elevate negative perspectives to a more enlightened point of view. Since you can program Clear Quartz with your intentions, it is an excellent stone to use during healing or manifestation meditations.


Amethyst: Used for protection, intuition and spirituality. Amethyst awakens higher consciousness and facilitates meditation and intuition. It can help you make wiser decisions free of emotional confusion, I use this stone when I meditate before bed.


Sodalite: This stone brings order and calmness to the mind. Brings emotional balance and calms panic attacks. It enhances self-esteem, self-acceptance and self-trust. A great meditation stone to help ease the mind after a bad day.


Meditating with your Crystal


Now that you have your Crystal you can chose to cleanse it or to move straight to meditation.


Hold the stone in your hands while you meditate, concentrating on the texture, color, and the intention. Bringing your awareness back to the Crystal every time your mind strays.


You can also wear it as jewelry. If you tend to meditate when you aren't at home, having a piece of jewelry with your desired Crystal can be helpful. Jewelry can also be useful for fidgeting or as a reminder of your intention.


Place your Crystal on a desired chakra or under your pillow if you meditate before bed or laying down.
